Side Hustles for College Students
Coming from the first-generation Latina graduate herself, who has been there done that. Here are some side hustle ideas that helped me earn some extra CASH for school, with a cafecito on the side! 🤗 💕
1. Online Tutoring 👩🏻💻
When I was in school, I was a tutor on my campus. However, when I needed help studying for the CBEST, GRE etc. I looked for tutors online who could help me virtually. A lot of them who helped me were students themselves, and online tutoring was what they did on the side.
2. Substitute Employment at School Districts 👩🏻🏫
These were my favorite positions to have. I was a substitute After School Instructor, Cafeteria Lady, Office Aide & Teacher. I definitely learned a lot while making extra money, & building on my classroom management skills.
3. Podcasting 🎙️
There is such a large untapped market for student podcasters.
Which means opportunities for partnerships, brand development, and more. Knowing everything I know now, as a seasoned podcaster... if I could go back to when I first started podcasting I definitely would've reached out to MORE brands to increase my revenue from podcasting.
4. Selling Stickers 💌
Many college students love stickers! I know I did. I always had them on my water bottle, desk, & laptop case. They can be inexpensive to create, and fun to sell. Again, if 1 could go back to when I was in school, I would have taken this more seriously.
5. Content Creation 📸
Anywhere from blogging, making videos using brand named items around the house, (specifically kitchen items) and helping smaller brands develop their content creation plan... that extra cash would help fund my cafecito runs.
6. Giving Community Workshops 📕
This was before I created Cafecito con Estrellita. I would email or go in person to my local community centers, nonprofits etc. I would present to them my idea(s) to give College Workshops to Latino/a/e youth. I didn't get paid, & this was before I knew how to charge, But it helped me get my foot in the door, and start making connections for my career. So, I hope this gives you something to think about!
7. Dog Sitting (Recommendation from @chooseyouruni_ca)
Dog sitting through Rover was my most lucrative side-hustle. Was so much fun!
8. Uber Eats (Recommendation from gradschooljenn)
Uber eats if you have a car. I would not depend on it for crazy amount of money but it's nice for something extra. I barely started doing it yesterday and it's straight forward (and if you like driving haha).
I hope you found these helpful! 💕
